Spooktacular Dark Carnival Returns in 2023

Lindenwood University’s annual Dark Carnival spooktacular event is scheduled for Friday, October 27 from 5-9 p.m. on campus.

Dark Carnival began in 2010 through the collaboration between the Lindenwood Student Government Association and the Resident Director Association. It featured a haunted house, games, actors from the Lindenwood Theater group, a decorating contest, and a scarecrow.

It has since become a cherished tradition at Lindenwood, bringing together families and friends for a night of frightful fun and laughter. This community event promises a magical evening of thrills, chills, and enchantment.

There will be activities for all to enjoy. Trunk or Treat allows kids to show off their costumes, while the Scream Zone offers free rides and bounce houses. The Residential Life team will bring your worst nightmares to life at the Haunted House in McCluer Hall. The Amazing Barry will perform family magic shows throughout the night.

Guests attending Dark Carnival are also invited to donate a non-perishable canned food item and receive a Dark Carnival T-shirt. All items will go to support Oasis Food Pantry, and T-shirts will be available while supplies last.

Queens Blvd, a high-energy cover band from St. Louis specializing in bringing classic rock hits from the 1970s, ‘80s, ‘90s, and 2000s back to life, will perform at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. at the Gazebo.

All Dark Carnival activities are free of cost, excluding the Food Truck Graveyard. Cash or cards will be accepted.

In addition to the Dark Carnival festivities, the Lindenwood Theatre production of “Carrie: The Musical” takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. at Scheidegger Center. Tickets can be purchased through the LU Box Office.
